Visiting the Senedd

Well, I had the opportunity to visit the "Senedd" during my lunch hour yesterday. It was of course a brief visit as I had other matters to attend to at the Wales Millenium Centre. The two things which struck me:
(a) It is really close to the Millenium Centre (too close in my opinion, but it's too late now)
(b) It feels very small compared to the Millenium Centre.
On the positive side I was amazed at how welcoming the security guards were. Security guards are a bit like the Cardiff taxi drivers. You never know what you're gonna get. Anyway, I wandered in and probably looked a little suspicious but the guards were almost dragging me in. I didn;t want to have to take my phone and camera out of my pocket but I had to in order to get through the security scanner.
Inside felt more like a cafe or something. There was an over-zealous officer trying to explain to a gang of school kids how the Senedd building is heated by means of wood pellets. I asked him a few questions and he seemed to appreciate it. My reward? A small wood pellet to keep. I wrote the date on it (fourth of April 2006) and intended to keep it for my grandchildren. Unfortunately, it has rolled away somewhere. Anyway, that's it. It was a rushed visit but I hope to return there soon to view some of the art and possibly view some of the plenary (possibly will be more interesting than watching it on digital) although I believe they have a month or so off. Sorry for all the typos. Red wine and curry on a Wednesday night = typos.
