Sign of the...

I thought the Times was supposed to be an intellectual newspaper.
I'm sitting there on holiday tucking into my Rice Krispies, browsing what appears to be a morning encyclopedia. And it's full of semi-tabloid articles. I learn that the new diet sweeping America is a so-called semi-vegan. Where people avoid all meat products before 6pm during the day and then eat what the hell they like in the evening. Why do I need to read this? I think that there should be a law which says that all newspapers should be one size A4 (double-sided if they have to). Just list the headlines and football results and provide internet links for further information. You could even provide such a flyer in Welsh too. Then we would have a national newspaper which we could peruse in our language, again providing internet links for those who wish to get into details. How frustrating it must be for all those journalists who spend hours refining their work, knowing full-well that their precious words will be read by the few rather than the majority.
